This is an very early button from a Spain. It's from 1610 to 1640 and the origals are bronze.

Cornflower blue buttons. We have found a little paint and elbow grease, and now you have some unique buttons to set off a blouse. It will make you stand out. To the best of my knowledge, I am the only source for these buttons. We have lots of colors. You can message us for the one you want or wait as we add them. 10 Small eye-catching bright blue buttons. They have been reproduced from original 1680-1720 colonial period. These fine reproductions are made in the USA from lead-free pewter called Britainna.
DIY! You can make them yourself. Just take some nail polish of the color you want and paint the button. When the button is just dry, wipe it down with nail polish remover (acetone) to bring out the highlight and allow drying thoroughly. You can stop there, but what we do is clear coat the button for a long-lasting finish.
Believe it or not, these are castings made directly from the recovered Colonial button from around 1670-1740. The original is cast from brass and is in my collection.
I don’t know if buttons were painted back in the 1700s. Earliest I can find so far is the 1890’s, but I know I have seen reference to it in the 1780s. It was in a letter by a Dandy to someone but can't find that book!
My family has been making pewter buttons for over 38 years and have over 100 different Pewter buttons, and this is one of them.
